Comments on installation:

Upgrade from stock Ubuntu release gave run-errors. Although the old libs were removed automatically, something remained. When syncevolution, sync-ui, libsynthesis0 and libsmltk0 "removed totally" and reinstalling, it worked.

Comments on use:

Works out of the box! I started with an empty phone / evolution for testing. On gradually importing my full PI when playing, I ran into one error on the phone-db. Slow-syncing solved this, I could not reproduce the error.

Comments on contact images:

Something strange is going on here. The first time I could only add 6 images in evolution to be synced with success. The second time, after deleting, I got up to 5 images. The images were similar, all made in photoshop 150x200px and exported as jpg high quality, resized in evolution. Adding images on the phone gives no problem. I have the feeling this is a phone issue: where are the evolution images stored on the phone, I could not find them, is there enough storage?

edit 19/5/2011:

changing a single occurrence in a series fails on syncing, workarounds are evident

Hi all,

after several months of unsuccessfull configuration trials with other opensource sync packets I made SyncEvolution working on only one single saturday morning. I'm really happy, thanks for this great work and the good documentation.

Comments on installation:

downloaded and installed syncevolution rpm packets along with sync-ui for Gnome.

Comments on use:

as Will said: works out of the box. I made the first client configuration and sync on the command line as described. Both data from evolution and phone were synced, though syncevolution command finished with an ERROR at the end of the sync process. So backups of both are recommended, though weren't needed here. Next syncs using sync-ui tool on the Gnome desktop showed some ERRORs too, even in slow mode. Anyway, all data seemed to be synced correctly, at least when synced in slow mode. All contacts/calendar/memo apps on the phone must be closed while syncing.

Comments on tasks:

all tasks from evolution without expiry date get the current sync date as expiry. That makes them appear all together within the phones calendar app in single-day-view - quite annoying...
