Roadmap#

Such a big word for such a little piece of software… also note that is not a plan set in stone. Anyway, here we go:

SyncEvolution 0.3: 27.06.2006 :

  • to be released when it works well with ScheduleWorld

  • command line tool feature complete (only exception: authentication for Evolution databases)

SyncEvolution 0.4: 11.09.2006 :

  • Funambol C++ client library with all patches required for improved server compatibility merged into the regular CVS

  • authentication for Evolution databases which need that (like Exchange Connector)

SyncEvolution 0.5: 12.11.2006 :

  • mostly bug fixes

  • additional SyncML features (large object support, one-way syncs)

SyncEvolution 0.6: 09.07.2007 :

  • support for Nokia 770/800: system address book works, calendar requires further work in the system libraries

  • added synchronization of notes

  • improved documentation and installation

  • workarounds for Evolution’s slightly broken handling of event categories and a problem in the Funambol 3.0 contact parser

  • minor bug fixes

  • updated SyncML library

SyncEvolution 0.7: 21.12.2007 :

  • support contacts on iPhone and Mac OS X

  • improved usability (command line options, output)

  • maintenance (bug fixes, updated SyncML library)

  • precompiled packages for Evolution and Nokia Internet Tables in an APT repository; 64 bit binaries

SyncEvolution 0.8: 01.09.2008 :

SyncEvolution 0.8.1: 11.10.2008 :

  • minor fixes

  • single binary for all supported Evolution releases

SyncEvolution 0.9 beta 1: 13.05.2009 :

  • switch to Synthesis SyncML Engine

  • integration into Moblin (libsoup instead of libcurl)

  • Beta 1 is usable, but mostly a proof-of-concept. It does not replace 0.8.1 as the official stable release!

SyncEvolution 0.9: 12.08.2009 :

  • native GTK sync-UI GUI

  • first stable release based on Synthesis engine

SyncEvolution 0.9.1: 26.10.2009 :

  • Mobical and Memotoo officially supported

  • lots of improvements

SyncEvolution 0.9.2: January 2010 :

  • accumulated fixes and translation updates

SyncEvolution 1.0: March 2010 :

  • direct synchronization with phones

  • “personal” SyncML server

SyncEvolution 1.1: October 2010 :

  • improved direct synchronization with phones

  • command line options for manipulating items

  • backends for QtContacts and KCal in MeeGo

Information for releases since then can be found in the blog. For the future, only maintenance releases are planned.
